Halve and Double Strategy

Ask your child about the halve and double strategy when multiplying by 5 and 10.  Here's an example:

Multiply an even number by 5                         Halve the even number and multiply by 10

2 x 5                                                                      1 x 10

4 x 5                                                                      2 x 10
