Using Easy Numbers to Simplify Multiplication

Students are using easier multiplication facts to begin to multiply 2 digit numbers by 1 digit.  For example:  5 x 32 is equal to 5 x 30 + 5 x 2
                            5 x 32  =. 150 + 10
                                        =. 160
This strategy ensures students have a strong number sense and are readily able to decompose and compose numbers.
